Best way to support an artist is to buy from the artist
Young Adult Class/ For Portfolio Development/Enrichment or Fun
Why Choose Me to Help You or Your Child?
I have a track record of turning around a failing AP program, from 0% pass rate to 100% pass rate in 7 months while I taught in public school. I was the 3rd teacher to take the position after the two previous teachers left the job. I know firsthand how hard it is for the teacher to offer one on one time with their students. I help to facilitate the teacher as an outside resource.
I will give a personalized, tailored approach to the student's interests, strengths, weaknesses, and work.
When working with students under 18 yr, I will send a recap of the assignment and class info to the parent and student in a group email.
What to Expect: Art Track Seeking Student
This class will be appropriate for students who are currently in AP or IB preparing a body of work or portfolio college admissions or any art track-seeking student. I treat my students with respect as individual artists; they take the lead, I offer guidance and instruction. We will talk about all the aspects of creating a robust portfolio of work. We go over all aspects of making a portfolio standout, actual work, themes, techniques, photography, and writing components if applicable. We will work on your presentation skills while speaking about your work. I will share inspiration, art, historical and contemporary references that are geared personally toward your goals and mentorship.
What to Expect: Non-Art Track Student
I also offer portfolio development for non-art track-seeking students. Today's college entrances are competitive; the admissions process seeks to pick out those students who set themselves apart. I have students who love art, they are creative, but they don't want to pursue art as their primary study in college or are unable to take art classes in high school. However, these students still want to demonstrate their artistic talents either for themselves or to supplement their admission packet. I work with those students to help facilitate a portfolio that would put forth all their best skills in a professional format. It most important to know that the student is leading this endeavor; I'm just offering extra guidance from a professional artistic viewpoint. The student prepares all of their work. I will gladly write letters of recommendation for students I have had the chance to work closely with over time. I will not write recommendations for students I've met or worked with briefly.
