Portfolio Building For College & High-school Admission- 5 weeks, 5 classes
Important: If you are a NEW student in my classes, please reach out before purchasing. Do NOT purchase the class before confirming with me by email that this option would work for you. If you purchase and do not reach out prior, you will not receive a refund.
This is a private one-on-one art class online; we meet once a week for 5 weeks, 5 classes in total. We can also meet every other week for 5 weeks if that schedule is better for the students.
Learn in the safety and comfort of your own space while still experiencing the one-on-one attention, guidance, and structure that an in-person class provides. Learn without the expectation or anxiety that some feel from working in a large class environment.
I have the hands-on experience needed to help build a great portfolio. I took over a multi-level high school art class 3 months into the school year after two teachers left the position. During the rest of that school year, I turned around their failing AP program, from 0% pass rate from the previous year to a 100% pass rate in 7 months. I know firsthand how hard it is for each teacher to offer one-on-one time with their students. I help to facilitate the teacher as an outside source. This is a win-win situation for students and art teachers!!
What to Expect in Class:
Each student’s track will be different. I will give a personalized, tailored approach to the student’s interests, strengths, weaknesses, and work. We go over all aspects of making a portfolio stand out, actual work, themes, techniques, photography, and writing components if applicable. When working with students under 18 yr, I will send a recap of the assignment and class info to the parent and student in an email.
I take on new students only after having had an initial talk and portfolio review with them; this will now happen online and on the phone. Parents are encouraged to be present if the student is under 18yr. After this consultation, we can discuss if we will be a good fit to work together.
Recent past students are on scholarship at SCAD, Boston University, Ringling, VCU, and Douglas Anderson.
Classes last between 30mins - 45 mins and are followed up with an email of assignment and a recap of our discussion. If under 18yrs, the parent or guardian will be copied on all emails.
* Please note that due to the classes' nature and scheduling, there are no refunds or holdovers. All classes purchased must be used within the purchase session. Also, classes can not be given over to someone else to complete; the purchased classes can only be used by the student who purchased them unless otherwise permitted by the instructor.
